Today I’m going to inspire you to visit an antique store or scour eBay for an antique tin. Adding a bouquet of roses to a tin gives it a romantic feel you can’t get from a regular vase. I would fill the tin with florist foam (available at a florist supply shop) to hold the stems.

Don’t forget that Valentine’s Day is coming soon. If you need to buy roses online, check out this online florist and have them delivered (in a wrap) to your door. Be sure to order early though, Valentine’s gets very crazy. It’s best to avoid even going into a store.

Here’s a pretty wedding flower spray. It’s not your typical look. I can’t tell if the ends have flowers or maybe some sort of accent that is not floral. Like a piece of garland. What I like most about this bouquet is the shape. It’s not all the way tear drop but it’s not a round bouquet either.

What do you think?

Sometimes I think I’d hate to be a wedding florist. A lot of the images show roses like this and it’s tough to get them to open so wide without losing their petals. That’s why I’d probably choose a different flower that has a similar look but aren’t quite as delicate, like white peonies.

The roses look so pretty and are often used around doorknobs or to decorate for weddings (this link will lead you to much more inspiration if this is for a wedding, I’m married but it made me a bit dreamy!)

The proper name for these balls of flowers is a pomander. It started as an ancient form of aromatherapy, probably because in the old days people stank (not enough baths, no deodorant). Today they are more decorative than practical, but they still smell sweet when made with real flowers.

To make a pomander that will never fade, try this crepe paper tutorial. It looks like a lot of work to make these but thankfully blogger Danielle Flanders made a video showing us exactly how to do it. Thank you Danielle!

These would be pretty on cards but I prefer to put a pretty ribbon on one and hang it from the wall or ceiling. A small version could be made into a Christmas tree ornament. A larger one could hang from the ceiling at different levels. It would look gorgeous in our entryway for a party, or over the table hanging from the chandelier.

It would be very dramatic in red or even black.

You need a hot glue gun, crepe paper and a Styrofoam ball. You can find crepe paper at dollar store.

Are you ready to dig in? To make this tutorial go here.

This wedding bouquet features burgundy calla lilies with white roses and babies breath. If you can’t find this color of cala lilies this would still be pretty in white or with a deep burgundy leaf.

Remember you can also have your florist spray paint the lilies any color you want (or the roses or filler). One last unexpected touch is the evergreen pieces. Perfect for a winter wedding.

I’ve even seen necklaces made with them, although that’s not really my style. I prefer to add them to a piece of elastic for a headband.

I bought one for my baby girl for Christmas and now I can make my own with this fabric flower tutorial from Mama Crafts.

One of the things I like is how she got a thrifted shirt for the fabric. It’s a great way to reuse shirts that might be out of style. Plus it’s cheaper and very “green.” You could experiment with different colors but I like the sweet white with the beads the best.

The trick to this tutorial is singing the ends of the fabric so they curl in and look like petals of a flower. Try it out and let me know what you think! To read the full tutorial, click the link above.

Although you can’t see the vase, it’s probably a short glass square. That or this flower arrangement is tied into a bouquet.

The key to this arrangement is to choose various textures and colors that go well together and put divide the flowers into equal sections. The green is actually sprigs of the herb sage (it has shorter stems).

Try it out with different combinations of color and contrast. I like to call it Foursquare flowers. It’s a fresh way to look at flower arrangements – in color blocks!
